Bluewater Productions just might have the answer.
Beginning in December, Bluewater Productions, in conjunction with the original creators of Revolutionary Comics, will bring Rock N Roll Comics back to life. Included in the series will be issues featuring Guns N' Roses, along with numerous other acts such as Metallica, AC/DC, Motley Crue and Van Halen. According to Bluewater Productions President Darren G. Davis, the issue with Guns N' Roses should be published in early summer, 2010.
Guns N' Roses was featured in the very first edition of Rock N Roll Comics in the summer of 1989. The band was on the cover two more times, in 1991 with the likeness of Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator, and again in early 1992 with Axl Rose and Slash under the title, "Tales From The Tour."
Debuting with Guns N' Roses on the cover was a fitting start for Rock N Roll Comics. It would become the GnR equivalent of the comic book industry, at least in terms of the law.
Over the course of Rock N Roll Comics' five-year run, it's publisher, Revolutionary Comics, found itself in legal troubles with some of the bands and artists it profiled in its unauthorized biographies. According to reports at the time, Guns N' Roses was one of the bands threatening legal action. Eventually, after New Kids on the Block actually did sue, the courts decided that Rock N Roll Comics was protected under the First Amendment as illustrated articles.
According to Bluewater, these reissues will be packaged into graphic novels ranging from 150-300 pages. And, in some cases, they will be updated with more recent events such as the release of Guns N' Roses' long-awaited album, Chinese Democracy.
