I think it was always going to happen, no matter what.
Axl wanted to take the band forward and evolve the sound. Take his time getting the music right.
Slash seems to have wanted to go backwards as in making AFD 2 or something, and the quicker the better.
Hence, how much more contrasting can you get.
The others I think would just follow and did not really have too much involvement in anything.
That's the way I see it any way.

That was the best thing that can ever happen to GN'R Y'know, the proof is in the music for me. I have both Snakepit albums that I have rarely listened to cos to be honest imo, they are awful, seen Snakepit live, was good to see Slash but that's all. Have both VR albums, again rarely listened to, awful. Have both Loaded albums, awful. Izzy's stuff is alright. CD is brilliant, so there ya go!

If things hadnt gone the way they did, someone would have probably died. So I think it all happened how it was meant to be for some reason, what each of the invidviduals got out of the equations, each of them know. Some got only money and fame, others gor nasty habits and pain, and others got inspiration and wisdom... and well Guns n' Roses grew from all of it.

For me it's something like unavoidable but undesired (by me). For me all that happened between them was a matter of time to happen, but I absolutely loved them as they were. That chemistry between them, the image they had together was unique. That doesn't mean I don't respect the new line-up, this has nothing to do with it. I respect the new line-ip,it's clearily that they get along very well, I can see Axl feeling free in the band, doing what he always wanted with Guns. Also they guys are great, I can see they respect each other a lot, and the guys respect Axl as Slash and even Duff never did near the time of the break up and after.
If I have to say what I feel regarding this is a bit of regret regarding me and relieve regarding Axl. What matters the most is to see him completely free, I know it's what he wanted, to can go on with the band. I respect both old and new Guns. If I had to chose now who I loved or love the most from the beginning till now, that's more in details:
-Axl , I loved and respected the man since the very beginning, no matter what happened. I would stick with him even if he decided to go solo after the break up, cause I've always believed in Axl from the very beginning, I understood him completely and supported him for that. I adore the man completely.
- Slash; I loved and respected Slash in the band, he'll always be the guitarist more deep for me. I've always said that. I respect him as artist and as legend. The fact with him as person and what he did and how he acted with Axl is no worth comment. He might pose in the victim or make Axl the 100% guilty one, but that doesn't work with me. It's such a pity he had to be like this. Axl for me wins 100%-0% in front of Slash.
- Izzy ; I loved Izzy the most together with Axl. I love Izzy now too, I've always loved the guy. No bad words regarding Izzy.He left the band in a coward way, yes, but he did nothing considering what Slash did.
- Duff ; just love the guy. In my opinion, he was simply the one that was taken by the wave. He found himself in all that storm and being probably influenced by Slash, he left. Although I've never seen him bashing Axl as Slash did all the time.
- Steven ; Steven, Steven...Oh my, I don't know what to say about him, nothing regarding him is serious. I mean he was...funny. That's all I can say. He is still funny with the "I love Axl/I hate Axl" thing all the time. He's the personification of frustration in my opinion. He can't pass over the fact he was fired 19 years ago.
- Matt ; I have nothing with the guy, but never liked him too much. I just never thought he was sincere in anything. I better liked Steven than Matt, deffinitely.
- Gilby ; nice and funny guy but he was in a band for such a short time that I never reached to see him "joining" with the band. I mean he never looked like a whole with the others. Like he knew he was not going to stay for a long time.
- Dizzy ; he's amazing, and I have a big respect for him. Always liked him. Bless you Dizzy!
The conclusion is that the break up was sure to happen, it was a fact. If it didn't happen, one of them would have died.I'm talking about Axl and Slash. It was the most inteligent thing from Axl to take the right of the name Guns N' Roses. He knew that the break up was unavoidable and just a matter of time. He deffinitely cared about the band the most of them all. If someone says he didn't, then you can see how fake people are in the majority of cases.

I could be wrong but, isn't it what happens in all type of "teamwork". (It drives me crazy at work I have to work with 2 different teams and they can't get along. ) I bet it's even more difficult if you work with friends.

So breakups are as nasty as they can get

I always thought that neither Axl was so bad nor Slash was so good.
