Slash and the singer Usher are heading to the Super Bowl.A person familiar with the plans for Sunday’s halftime show told The Associated Press that R&B star Usher and former Guns ‘N Roses guitarist Slash are slated to make surprise appearances. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity Wednesday, because the musicians’ performances were not going to be announced. Slash and Usher are supposed to join the Black Eyed Peas, who are the main halftime act for Sunday’s NFL championship game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers at Cowboys Stadium.Black Eyed Peas member will.i.am is featured on Usher’s hit single “O.M.G.” Slash has performed Guns ‘N Roses song “Sweet Child o’ Mine” on tour with the Black Eyed Peas; he also collaborated with Black Eyed Peas member Fergie on the song “Beautiful Dangerous” last year. The NFL announced in November that the Black Eyed Peas would be the featured Super Bowl halftime performer. Past halftime acts have included U2, the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Paul McCartney and Prince. Source: dalockerroom.com

Fergie should be arrested for this. Rolling Stone agrees it was shitty: www.rollingstone.com/culture/blogs/pop-life/the-ghastliest-half-time-show-in-sports-history-20110207And I had so much fun on twitter!! Look at what people were saying: let's just say that no one gets to sing sweet child o' mine but axl rose. can we all agree to that?
Slash ruined Axl Rose's birthday
What A Fantastic Birthday Gift For Axl Rose...Slash Emerges From His Superbowl Performance With Not One Iota Of Dignity.
"Slash, you see Twitter?" "What's up? Super Bowl got me trending?" "No, uh... Axl Rose is, though." "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAXLLLLLL!!!!" #SuperBowl
It would be awesome if Axl Rose just came out of nowhere and smashed a guitar over Fergie's head for mudering his song. #superbowl
axl rose should beat the shit outta fergie for what she just did
Fergie's impression of Adam Sandler's impression of Axl Rose was brought to you by "The Most Terrible Thing Ever".
Axl Rose just shot his TV. #blackeyedpeas #slash #sacrilege
Thanks for killing one of my favorite songs #BlackEyedPeas.... I hope Axl Rose punches them all out. #SuperBowl
Somewhere, Axl Rose just put his face through a pane glass window to try to get the noise to stop.
Fergie, you are no Axl Rose.
Very painful to watch sober... #superbowl Half-time show...Ok, I'll stop now. Just explian something to me: So, Slash has this new solo album out, right? It has this song with Fergie in it, right? (She sounds awesome on that, by the way) So why, why God, WHY did they do this? They should have just done the solo song... I don't even know how to describe what Fergie did there, and Slash putting a Velvet Revolver solo in a Guns song... WHY? And the bedazzeled top hat? /o\

Fergie and Slash rape a 'Sweet Child'That had to be the worst halftime show ever. Not only did Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas hog the autotune which Fergie desperately needed, but I saw Slash take part in the worst raping of a GNR song ever. I wonder if it was his little fuck you to Axl Rose being Axl's Birthday today. I have been very critical of the diva moves of Axl Rose for quite some time, but I think I might owe him a big apology right now. Axl has always been very protective of Guns N' Roses songs, image, and likeness. He has taken other members to court, sued Guitar Hero for using Slash and his image in the marketing of the game and so on. But after seeing tonight's butchering of "Sweet Child O' Mine" with Slash on guitar and Fergie on vocals, Axl has every right to protect us from that and I hope he brings a lawsuit against Super Bowl Haltime Show organizers for that raping of my auditory senses. The only thing that could have saved Fergie's performance was a wardrobe malfunction. At best, tonight's halftime show was a highschool talent show gone horribly wrong. www.thegauntlet.com/article/172/21033/Fergie-and-Slash-rape-a-Sweet-Child

WHY she sang THIS song? I donn't understand why so tender and sweet romantic song was perform at sport event and why she performed it so vulgar and rought? I'm sick of it. Terrible! If she wanted to sing GNR song why didn't she sing "Get In The Ring"?

We already told you how we really feel about the Black Eyed Peas' horrific Super Bowl halftime performance, but Fergie's rendition of "Sweet Child O' Mine" really is just unforgivable. Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash made a welcomed appearance during the ill-fated performance, but Fergie's vocals just couldn't pull it together to do Axl Rose justice. We love being reminded of the classic tune, but unfortunately this is not a cover we'll be replaying on iTunes again in the near future. Or... ever. This isn't the first time the Black Eyed Peas have given Guns N' Roses their best effort either, as they often perform the first verses during live shows. Wonder what Slash thought of the whole debacle? Not to say there haven't been good covers of it in the past. Carrie Underwood and Sheryl Crow to name a few -- Crow's version even earned her a Grammy Award. Source: blog.zap2it.com/pop2it/2011/02/sweet-child-o-mine-fergie-slash-make-us-long-for-axl-rose.html
